DEFTONES Joined By TAPROOT Singer At Detroit Gig

DEFTONES brought a special guest — TAPROOT frontman Steve Richards — onstage Thursday (May 8) at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. Richards joined the group for the song, "Teething", DEFTONES' contribution to the 1996 soundtrack for "The Crow: City Of Angels". DEFTONES singer Chino Moreno noted that TAPROOT — who hail from nearby Ann Arbor — occasionally covered "Teething" in their shows. When Richards didn't immediately appear, Moreno said, "Get up here or I'll tell everyone your band sucks."

DEFTONES are in the middle of their unofficial guerrilla tour, which is set to conclude at the end of the month. The band will then head to Europe for some additional shows. DEFTONES will return to North American for the METALLICA-headlined Summer Sanitarium tour that kicks off July 4 in Pontiac, Michigan.

The group's new album, "Deftones", comes out May 20 through Maverick Records.
